Join the hidden lanes slow travel experience

be a part of the curated slow travel tours to experience hidden gems with hidden lanes

Hidden Lanes creates self-guided and guided tours in primarily Ballarat, as well as self-guided tours in South Korea and Bali.  Additional guided tours in Ballarat including a vintage fashion tour, Lake Wendouree and foodie tour are now in the works for 2024/5.

They focus on slow travel experiences and supporting small local businesses in all their products.  So far, businesses and sponsors involved in the tours have experienced massive benefits with increased visitation and expenditure that they would not get without the tours in place.  Many who come to the tour from Melbourne also stay in Ballarat overnight, increasing visitor expenditure.

feedback from sponsors

“Emma and Jarrod are two of the most engaging and enterprising people in Ballarat. Their Hidden Lanes tours encourage visitors to explore parts of our city that they would not otherwise perhaps have chanced on…I love the Hidden Lanes tours!”

Slow Travel Journeys - our inspiration creating a Slow Travel Guide for South Korea’s Jeju Island walking/cycling trail.

Jarrod and Emma, Hidden Lanes creators spent 9 years in South Korea, and during that time created video content and a slow travel guide to Korea’s Jeju Island. The journey was a walking or cycling route that included beautiful scenery, funky cafes, art galleries and nature. We even made a film about the journey, that was featured in the Korean Expat Film Festival and Berlin Bicycle Festival. This style of slow journeying includes meandering along laneways, taking your time to take photos, take in the scenery and buy local produce. We’re inspired to make something similar for Ballarat!
