What is Ballarat City Tales?

Ballarat City Tales is a guided walking tour through central Ballarat. Your guide will share stories about the city's history, architecture, gold rush heritage and local characters.

The tour is relaxed and friendly. Guests are welcome to ask questions, participate in conversations or simply listen.

Before the Tour

The tour starts at Bakery Hill in Ballarat.

We recommend arriving 10 minutes before the scheduled start time.

Your guide will introduce themselves and welcome the group.

If you have any accessibility requirements, concerns or questions, please let your guide know before the tour begins.

Group Size

Most tours have between 2 and 15 guests.

You will be walking with the group for most of the experience.

Walking and Physical Requirements

The tour lasts approximately 2 to 2.5 hours.

There are regular opportunities to stop and listen to stories.

The walking pace is generally slow.

Some sections include footpaths, street crossings and uneven surfaces.

A wheelchair-accessible route can be arranged for many tours. Please contact Hidden Lanes before booking to discuss your requirements.

Guests are welcome to take additional breaks if needed.
