After your walking tour, continue to the beautiful Ballarat Botanical Gardens for a private luxurious vintage-style picnic experience overlooking Lake Wendouree.
When you arrive, your private picnic setting will already be prepared with layered rugs, cushions, vintage teaware, elegant styling details, and curated local catering inspired by traditional high tea culture.
Your host, Emma, will welcome you with a short historical talk about the gardens, Lake Wendouree, Ballarat’s Victorian-era leisure culture, and the tradition of lakeside picnicking during the Gold Rush years.
After the hosted introduction, you are free to relax and enjoy your picnic at your own pace.
Continue Exploring at Your Own Pace
After your hosted picnic experience, your day continues with a beautifully illustrated Hidden Lanes self-guided exploration map created by local artist and guide Jarrod.
Rather than following a phone screen, guests are encouraged to wander slowly through the Botanical Gardens, lakeside precinct, tramway area, and hidden corners of Ballarat using a tactile printed map designed as both a practical guide and a keepsake souvenir.
You’re welcome to:
Ride the historic vintage tram
Explore the Botanical Gardens
Wander the lakeside walking paths
Discover hidden spots and scenic viewpoints
Relax beside Lake Wendouree
Continue exploring Ballarat at your own pace
The historic Ballarat trams operate on Tuesdays and Sundays around the lake precinct.
