Throughout the year, Hidden Lanes presents a collection of limited special experiences designed to celebrate the places, people, history and seasons of regional Victoria.
Throughout the year, Hidden Lanes creates a small collection of special events in Ballarat and the surrounding Goldfields — from heritage building tours and seasonal dining experiences to romantic picnics, candlelit evenings and one-off collaborations inside remarkable historic spaces.
These events are designed for curious travellers and locals who want something more atmospheric than a standard tour. Expect intimate groups, beautiful settings, local stories, and access to places you might not usually experience on your own.

Annual and Seasonal Hidden Lanes Events
Ballarat Heritage Festival
Each May, Hidden Lanes offers a special heritage experience as part of the Ballarat Heritage Festival.
Craig’s Hidden Rooms Building Tour + Devonshire Tea, takes guests inside one of Ballarat’s most iconic historic hotels for a guided building tour followed by a hosted Devonshire tea.
Ballarat Winter Festival
Each winter, Hidden Lanes creates atmospheric events that celebrate Ballarat’s historic interiors, cosy hospitality and seasonal charm.
Our current Winter Festival event, Wintertide by Candlelight at Craig’s Royal Hotel, is an intimate evening of history, candlelight, live music and dining inside one of the city’s grand heritage hotels.
Hidden Lanes is developing a year-round calendar of small-group seasonal experiences in Ballarat and the Goldfields.
Future events may include romantic Valentine’s Day picnics, slow travel picnics, historic building tours with Devonshire tea, Christmas gatherings and other limited-run experiences created around remarkable local places.
These events are currently in development and will depend on venue availability, seasonal partnerships and guest demand.
